Bouquet Ribbon Calligraphy
Bouquet Ribbon Calligraphy
Ribbons are a gorgeous, soft way to add some unexpected calligraphy and texture to your day-of-details.
You can choose to purchase your own ribbon to send to me to calligraphy or you may choose for me to purchase it for you. If you choose to have me purchase it on your behalf, you will still need to visit one of the provided sites below to pick out the color(s) you would like. I will then bill you separately for the cost of the ribbons.
The provided below are my rusted suppliers of silk ribbons. I also stock my own supply of polyester and cotton blend ribbons (pictured) that I love to write on if you are looking for something with a little more weight and opaque.
This listing is ONLY FOR THE CALLIGRAPHY of your ribbons. You will have to purchase your own supply of ribbons. Please mention in the comment if you will be purchasing yourself, would like me to purchase on your behalf or would like to use my polyester/cotton blend. I will then invoice you for any additional costs from purchasing your ribbons. I will also be in touch with an address to send your purchased ribbons to.
I offer three different sizes on the drop down, 1.5 - 3 yards, you may order as many as you need. Please note, for quantities above 15 I will need an additional half a week to complete your order. If you need more than 3 yards or you have another idea in mind (custom table runner calligraphy design, backdrops or tablecloths ) please do not purchase this listing and instead contact me to work our details for your project.
If there are any extra ribbons from what you send me I will send them back to you with your completed order as well.
Please also list the color you would like your calligraphy to be in. You can choose any color you would like but keep in mind how it will contrast with your chosen ribbon color. If you would like me to recommend a color for you I would love to help!
Please allow 1 and a half to 2 weeks from the day I receive your ribbons, for the completion of your order. I will contact you once I receive the ribbons so you have a better idea on when to expect your completed pieces.
Words to write
I can fit approximately 10-12 words on each 1.5 yards of ribbon (depending on length of words) Please provide in the form the lines you would like me to write. These can be anything from your first dance lyrics, your vows, the date and place of your wedding, your names, deceased family members, or bible versus that are meaningful to you. Choose what you would like!
Where to order the ribbons
Please use one of the below suppliers to order your ribbons. Lighter ribbon colors usually work best, please ensure it is a soft light color to allow the calligraphy to really pop. Darker colors tend to soak up too much of the white ink.
Custom Paper These silk ribbons are 100% silk and are bias cut which gives them a dramatic drape. Because of the bias cut, there is a seam every two yards in the continuous spool and the raw unfinished edges will naturally soften with wear, you may order whichever width you would like, but please only order from the "silk spool" or "silk by the yard" options.
Honey Silks I'd recommend any of their silks or frayed fabric ribbons. Please do not order from the recycled chiffon line for your calligraphy pieces or from their crinkled silk collection.
Fru Fru Chic They have a lovely collection of soft silk ribbons to choose from, please order from their "original ribbons" section. Psst...the Coquille is my favorite.
Silk and Willow Their gorgeous silks are plant dyed and made by hand in small batches. Some colors may vary due to the nature of plant dying, and you may also see some unexpected, yet naturally beautiful markings due to the process. Their antique white and blush are fan favorites amongst B&BD brides.
As always please keep in mind that all silks and fabrics are created differently and thus the way the calligraphy appears on them may vary slightly. Due to the nature of calligraphy as well no one letter may look exactly the same. Though I do keep to a certain style and letter format, small bleeds and variations in thicknesses will occur, but that is part of the beauty of calligraphy and handwriting.
