There are a few things, okay a lot of things, I love about wedding invitation design. The smell of the paper, the luxurious feel of cotton paper with just the right amount of textured goodness as you run your nib across the surface effortlessly, the charm of a perfectly deckled edge....I really could go on. There's no step in the custom design process that I can point out as my least favorite, because every step includes an integral part of the overall look and feel of a custom designed suite. hmm, well maybe except the numbers part. Raise your hand if you're like me and you just grit your teeth at the thought of doing math. Yep, thought so. Okay, you can put your hand down now. Lets get back to the fun talk.
The steps after that math thing happens. When I can start pulling paper samples, creating ink and paint swatches and building vision boards to help my sweet clients visualize just how absolutely stunning their final wedding invitation design is going to be! The below wedding invitation reflects a beautiful wedding weekend event spent in Asheville, North Carolina at the Biltmore Estate. The couples closest friends and family were invited to wine tastings, hiking and of course the main wedding event to make the weekend truley memorable and a fun experience for all. See below for how I helped capture the elegant and fun atmosphere for the weekend and even helped get the most important four legged family member his own space in the invitation design.
The main invitation used watercolor floral designs flat printed on watercolor paper. Custom calligrpahy was used for the entirety of the wording and printed on a translucent vellum which was then wax sealed onto the printed watercolor paper. This added a beautiful dimension to this suite and an unexpected twist.
We incorporated a darling custom watercolor illustration of the Biltmore Estate on an enclosure card to help excite the guests for arriving at this lovely venue.
A destination wedding wouldn't be complete without some fun events for guests to take part in during down time! Along with the details for the day of the wedding, this couple planned out wine tasting and brunches to enjoy with family members while they were all together. These events were detailed in an itinerary and the RSVP card included spots for the guests to respond to each event they were able to make.
This is one of my favorite additions to this wedding invitation. The inclusion of the couples adorable little pug Max. They wanted to include him to help give the suite a bit of fun and to show little Max that he's a big part to their special day as well. I created a custom watercolor pet portrait to display Max on the information card where he could tell the guests where they could go to learn more about his humans special day.
Custom Vow Books
One of my favorite things to add to any of my couples day-of-details are custom vow books. A special place made just for them to write down their vows for one another. They look absolutely gorgeous in your detail photos from the day, and look beautiful to hold during the ceremony.
Custom Thank You
To tie everything together we created a custom set of thank you cards for the couple to send out, complete with a hand drawn piece of artwork to commemorate the big day.
Overall investment for this lovely destination wedding suite: $1291.55
