Words can not even express how beautiful this wedding was, but oh my, I am going to try. Modern elegance and glam come together to create a magical experience at this black and gold themed wedding at the Duke mansion in Charlotte, North Carolina. Complete with gorgeous gold bridesmaid dresses and a memorable lace bridal gown found at Charlotte’s own Hayden Olivia Bridal, this wedding was unique down to every detail and I was so excited to be able to provide stationery pieces to complement the big day.
It’s not often I get to design an invitation suite that oozes with calligraphy on every inch, but when the opportunity arises, you bet your bottom dollar I will jump right in. Especially if that calligraphy is going to be gold foiled. Insert all heart eye emojis here. For the wedding invitation design pictured below I created an heirloom paper suite that the couple could cherish as a sweet one-of-a-kind version of their invitations. Heirloom suites are typically different than the invitations your guest receive. For the heirloom version on this suite, I hand calligraphed each piece of the invitation suite (each guest would receive a foil printed invite instead) to give the suite the couple would cherish an elevated level of elegance and a truly unique piece of artwork that documented the bespoke nature of their love and wedding day. All my couples have the opportunity to add one of these heirloom suites into their package should they choose, and they make for lovely detail shots the day of your wedding.
My couples, even if they choose to not add on an heirloom suite, will always receive an extra clean copy of their printed wedding invitations to cherish. I always send your photographer a copy as well so they can have a set for day of detail photos. Heirloom suites are also a great option for elopements, when a traditional wedding suite wasn’t created but you still want a paper suite to document the day.
The couple found it important that guests were able to be immersed in their elegant black and gold theme from the moment they received their formal invitations. To achieve this, a mixture of black and white papers were used throughout this wedding invitation suite. Black envelopes with gold calligraphy were used for the outer envelopes, and gold envelopes with black calligraphy were used for the response card envelopes.
For the main invite Blush and Blue Designs created a custom initial crest with flowing greenery illustrations. Calligraphy stole the show as all details were written out in a formal calligraphy style and the couples names were placed front and center. Gold leafing was incorporated throughout the invitations to add an extra texture element to the flat papers.
For the details card I created a simple venue illustration for the header of the card, and flowed through an elegant gold calligraphy.
The reply card was kept simple, incorporating more calligraphy and a place for guests to write their reposes.
All together this custom wedding invitation suite has an edgy fine art wedding invitation look and feel, it embraces uniqueness and the idea that your wedding invitations should complement your special day.
